Fairdene Lodge is a beautiful residential care home in Brighton and Hove, where staff are dedicated to compassionately taking care of older people suffering from dementia type illnesses. Kindness, sensitivity and respect are at the heart of what we do at Fairdene Lodge, and helping our residents live life their way is the value around which we’ve developed our philosophy.

Our team believe in encouraging independence, recognising personal fulfilment, and providing everyone in our care the freedom of choice. Fairdene Lodge is a real home, and dedication has gone into making sure that everything from food to activities, to the decoration of private and communal rooms makes our residents glad, relaxed, and fulfilled.

To us, it’s essential that residents feel as comfortable as possible, which is why thought, care, and also input from residents themselves has gotten involved with the decor of each of our 28 bedrooms. We’re able to accommodate up to 32 individuals, and every door is distinctly numbered. With permission, photos can be attached to aid orientation.

Focus on navigation all over the home is a top priority that runs throughout Fairdene Lodge, with all 5 reception rooms individually themed so that residents can enjoy different surroundings.

Reception rooms are also furnished with dementia friendly rummage boxes, book cases, hat stands and areas of interest. These contain vintage type items to bring on memories of one’s past.

Residents choose on how to spend their day, and there’s a wide range of activities readily available to them, including singing, films, exercise, arts and crafts, and themed events. Reminiscence sessions are held to urge residents to remember their pasts, and meetings are often held to continually improve the activities programme.

Outings and walks are regularly scheduled, and we always make an effort to encourage individual’s hobbies and interests outside the home where possible.
